Most recent Linux games use SDL2 for controller input, specifically the GameController API. This API is designed to make controllers behave like a 360 pad. On Steam, you can set your controller's input mapping via Big Picture Mode, and the bindings will transfer over to the game if it uses SDL2.

That said, I don't see this project trying to emulate a 360 controller from an existing controller.

What controller, exactly, are you trying to use?

I have a MayFlash PlayStation 2 to USB adapter. It allows me to use up to 4 PS2 controllers on one USB port.

It seems like Castle Crashers doesn't work with it at all, even after setting up the controller in Big Picture Mode.

Here's a gist of the config file I use with xboxdrv. It seemed to work well for games that assume you're using a 360 pad.

Does the adaptor work with any other games?

As far as steam games, I'm not sure - I'll try that out later. But I'm able to use it with OpenEmu without any problems.

It looks like Castle Crashers has its own code for interacting with gamepads.
I was able to use a Logitech RumblePad 2 with no issues. In fact, it seemed to be mapped similarly as a 360 controller.

The only advice I can give give you is to try to contact the makers of Castle Crashers about your adaptor. They might update the game to work with the adaptor.

@RodrigoCard, @d235j: Is it safe to close this issue?

I think this goes beyond the scope of this project, so Yes.
