The short git hash (e.g., bd9684f) is missing in the filename of the generated AppImages as the `$VERSION`:  We should not rename the generated AppImage (which would break the update mechanism), but export `$VERSION` before running `appimagetool`. A PR would be highly appreciated. Maybe you have some time to look at this @sbernhard?
