### Summary
Three Sphinx `:meth:` cross-references in the docs point to symbols that do not exist, so they resolve to dead references (Sphinx: "reference target not found"). Verified against rich 15.0.0 on Python 3.14.
1. `docs/source/markup.rst` lines 103 and 105 use `:meth:`~rich.console.Print.print``. There is no `Print` class in `rich.console`; the method is `Console.print`. Suggested fix: `:meth:`~rich.console.Console.print``.
2. `docs/source/console.rst` line 368 uses `:meth:`~rich.ScreenContext.update``. `ScreenContext` lives at `rich.console.ScreenContext`, not `rich.ScreenContext`. Suggested fix: `:meth:`~rich.console.ScreenContext.update``.
Repro:
- `python -c "import rich.console as c; c.Print"` -> AttributeError (no `Print`)
- `python -c "import rich; rich.ScreenContext"` -> AttributeError (no `rich.ScreenContext`)
- Correct targets exist under `.. automodule:: rich.console`: `Console.print` and `ScreenContext.update`.
### Disclosure
These were found with AI assistance (Claude) and I verified each against the installed rich 15.0.0. Per `AI_POLICY.md`, I am opening this issue first rather than sending a PR directly. If a maintainer confirms the fix is wanted, I am happy to submit a small PR correcting all three references.
ABOS OpenJobs approval request 1b212a20-d349-468c-8988-54427c2c49f8
I can prepare the focused three-reference documentation correction described in this issue for the OpenJobs listing above.
Disclosure: the contribution would be AI-assisted by ABOS using OpenAI GPT-5.6 Sol. I read AI_POLICY.md and will not open an AI-assisted PR without the required maintainer approval.
@willmcgugan, if this exact correction is wanted, could you confirm that an AI-assisted PR fixing the two `rich.console.Print.print` references to `rich.console.Console.print` and the `rich.ScreenContext.update` path to `rich.console.ScreenContext.update` is approved?
Hi! Happy to fix these three broken cross-references if you are open to it — `docs/source/markup.rst` lines 103/105 → `:meth:`~rich.console.Console.print`` and `docs/source/console.rst` line 368 → `:meth:`~rich.console.ScreenContext.update``, matching what the reporter verified. OK to PR?
Hi Will — bumping this from early September. I asked whether I should send a PR for the three broken Sphinx `:meth:` references, and haven't heard back yet. The `markup.rst` ones are the clearest: there's no `Print` class in `rich.console`, so those two references should really point at `Console.print`. Happy to put up the small PR if you'd like it — or leave it alone if you'd rather not, totally your call. Just didn't want to open one uninvited.
