Hi Gray,
@josemadris (and some others) have requested similar feature (see issue #19 ). Although I agree this would be perfect addition to the existing functionality, I do not have time at the moment to play with it. I have it planned in roadmap but I can't commit on when I will have some spare time to implement it.

Howdy! No problem at all re: not having time to implement this - I'll tinker with the suggestion made by @thinkswan to see how it works, then decide whether or not I want to maintain my own little branch for the foreseeable future. Thanks so much for your help!

D'oh! I just discovered that the new bit of CSS was actually enough to do the job - I didn't need to make any modifications to the javascript - and I've whipped up a new fiddle to document it...
