@gdams my pleasure, I added the XD development link for you, so it helps you to implement easier. Will add the html and css shortly here once the design phase has been confirmed.

I'd also be interested to get your thoughts on how best times scale this down to mobile platforms?

Sure, I am working on its mobile view now and get back as completed.

Thanks for the ideas @meKokabi! I love both of the mockups (I think an image-based background is definitely going to be best here, do you have any experience in implementing such a background into a website? I've tried before and failed miserably when it comes getting it to render nicely on multiple screen sizes

Thanks for the ideas. I prefer the less jazzy image in Option 1, but more importantly...

The buttons that appear "above the line" should not be equally prominent to end users.

As you see from the current homepage, we guide users towards choosing the "Latest Release" button, because users who do not come with a specific requirement of Java version or alternate platform are best served by picking the latest version that matches their current platform. We had discussed giving the button a menu on the right side to select the other platforms and release archive - or maybe even moving the archive away into a page menu altogether.

We'd also like to make the marketplace quite prominent, so that may be a good candidate to use some space freed up by the options above.

+1 for option 1. The image is super generic and we should have created or own (maybe in 2nd step) but it looks dynamic, modern and the color scheme fits to the Adoptium logo & style.

@meKokabi I'd say that's certainly a good starting point, would you be happy to share the relevant html/css/images and I'll have a go at implementing it

Hello, As per our recent discussion please find attached the latest draft as of Feb.28.
https://xd.adobe.com/view/8a3381de-3f1b-4051-80bf-80b1adcce3ec-df60/

Some quick notes:

  • The hamburger menu works better both on Desktop and Mobile view. and the current menu on your website is decent.
  • All the elements/ buttons/ colours and general grid of the page is based on bootstrap.

Please review and let me know your thoughts. Once we finalize the design , I will provide you with the initial coding package.

@gdams I know it's still a WIP but have some edits based on the current state of https://deploy-preview-180--eclipsefdn-adoptium-v2.netlify.app/

  • This paragraph on the homepage seems to be the wrong content:

Unless you have something else, I would suggest replacing it with

The Adoptium Working Group promotes and supports high-quality runtimes and associated technology for use across the Java ecosystem. Our vision is to meet the needs of Eclipse and the broader Java community by providing runtimes for Java-based applications. We embrace existing standards and a wide variety of hardware and cloud platforms.
