Ok thanks. This is indeed caused by the mismatch between kmscon sending ^H for backspace but reports as xterm which has ^? for backspace.

So I'm closing this as duplicated as #55.

In the meantime, as a short time workaround, you can use something like this: https://github.com/Aetf/dotfiles/blob/main/.config/zsh/config.d/bindings.zsh to rebind current active terminfo entries to appropriate zsh functions.

Actually, because of this script, I didn't even notice that I also have this mismatch on my system (Archlinux)...

@Aetf , After #55 merged, I still have backspace sending ^H after rebuilding the PKGBUILD from AUR (without editing PKGBUILD). What do you say about changing this option

option('backspace_sends_delete', type: 'boolean', value: 'false',
to true for default value?

Tried to make that option to true, but now I can't send ^H using Ctrl+Backspace

Lot of terminals send Ctrl+Backspace as ^H, it might be common thing to do that here too (if possible)?

Libtsm does not recognise Ctrl-Backspace as a special combination. It is not listed in the big Control switch statement at https://github.com/Aetf/libtsm/blob/develop/src/tsm/tsm-vte.c#L2437-L2576.

The only logic around backspace is the selection of ^H or ^? at https://github.com/Aetf/libtsm/blob/develop/src/tsm/tsm-vte.c#L2579-L2584.
