Hi @TrilipuT,
In short:
Using the w descriptor already does retina optimization.

While multiple descriptors can be mixed, the x descriptor shouldn't be mixed with the w descriptor. If you think about it, the w descriptor doesn't need an addtional x descriptor, because it already includes all information for the browser to choose the right image. A simple example:

<img src="300.jpg" srcset="600.jpg 2x" width="300" height="100" />

Is the same as:

<img src="300.jpg" srcset="600.jpg 600w, 300.jpg 300w" sizes="300px" width="300" height="100" />

The current problem is more that we can not opt-out from retina support ;-). In case there is nothing comming from the responsive image group, I will add a nice plugin for lazySizes, where you can add an attribute for example: data-maxdpr="1.5"

from lazysizes.
