I agree that this would really help. Currently the order is slightly confusing and I think works on creation date, rather than name, which is more logical.

Is this something that could be addressed soon?

If sorting will be a feature, maybe make is optional. When we created our categories, we wanted a special category to always stick on top. Then, we manually sorted the rest. What was frustrating was adding new categories that would belong in between other categories. I wonder if maybe it would be better as with Forums Settings or Ticket Categories, have it where you can move up/down any category to your liking. I think that would be ideal for us. Regardless, some kind of management of categories would be very helpful.
