meaning that it will not block the process from exiting. If all you have left in the process is file watching and its not persistent
the process will quit. There are probably better name for it, but it came from Node. Please update the documentation if you think we can better explain it

Perhaps you have a server and a watcher and you want the process to die
when you close the server. you turn it off.
Alternatively, you can manually close the watchers to exit, but it could be
easier to just turn it off
