Heroku Config for AWS S3 and MongoDB about apostrophe-documentation

Hi David, Actually this doesn't sound quite right - Apostrophe has its own options and environment variables for these things and does pass them on to AWS. I wonder if perhaps you were able to get through with the other variables but just didn't have ours set up correctly. We prefer to continue with the set we have documented because it gives us more flexibility in how the connection to S3 is implemented. That you had the same issue with APOS_MONGODB_URI is very concerning. I see that right in our source code, that environment variable is definitely being read: process.env.APOS_MONGODB_URI It's too much of a coincidence that *none* of our environment variables seem to work for you when you set them in Heroku. So I wonder if there is something about your Heroku setup such that Heroku config variables are not all actually being set as environment variables at runtime for the Apostrophe application. But: I'll be setting up one of our own clients on Heroku tomorrow. So if I reproduce your issues then, you can bet I'll look into them. (P.S. Any chance you have code that is connecting independently to the AWS SDK and to MongoDB rather than using apos.attachments and apos.db for those things?)

It's very likely that the issue is on my end.

I mostly used the boilerplate code you guys provide on github and then built it out as needed, so I don't think there should be any code that is connecting directly with the AWS SDK or MongoDB. I actually was able to change the mongodb env variable back to APOS_MONGODB_URI and it worked.

So it seems like it's just S3 I'm struggling with.

Do you have any suggestions on what to check in my app and on Heroku to make sure the config variables are being set as environment variables?

Yeah, I just restarted the dynos and the images disappeared, so it seems like my app isn't connecting to S3. I've followed all the documentation regarding S3 and I keep getting ACCESS DENIED. I'm not sure if I'm missing something on the app side or the S3 side.

Actually, now that I think about it, it wouldn't connect locally using the S3 config either, so it's not exclusively Heroku related.
