The Country list keep duplicating when Track Button Clicked each time. about covid-19tracker

ArrayList<CountryModel> removeDuplicates = new ArrayList(hashSet);
myCustomAdapter = new MyCustomAdapter(AffectedCountries.this, removeDuplicates);
listView.setAdapter(myCustomAdapter);

i tried use this code but still not work.

    public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(@NonNull MenuItem item) {
        if(item.getItemId() == android.R.id.home)
            countryModelList.clear();
            finish();
        return super.onOptionsItemSelected(item);
    }
I just need to clear the list everytime i press back button.
