The commit doesn't fix the underlying issue, but it does allow users to escape the pause.php page.

No clear indication of underlying condition, I suspect server-lag or Browser cache/proxy might be some of the possible problems. The server logs do not show any indication of problems, just the logger warning when users try to double submit.

Bottom line, data is saved before the user sees the rendered pause.php page (eg - when the swirl gif starts to swirl) the data is already part of the DB. I'm going to close this bug unless we gather further data on the failure.
