After digging into some other stuff, I think this may just be because they used binTools.stringToBuffer("Figment Pathway") instead of Buffer.from('Figment Pathway') in the pathway tutorial. I noticed in your examples that you're using Buffer.from.

@connorbode Yeah, I think you're right, it's a difference in how the string was encoded to bytes, we see the 0x11 ( =17dec) memo size followed by 17 bytes. Closing this, if you think I'm mistaken feel free to reopen/open a new one
