WPA isn't supported by the DS, period.
DSi supports it but only for DSi games, and the exploits we use to disable SSL kick it out of DSi mode.
Your best bet is making an insecure access point and MAC filtering. This has always been an issue with DS Wifi and isn't specific to altwfc.

This isn't a problem with the server, it's a limitation with the console. I'm sure if you search the internet you'll find a lot of information about the issue. This isn't a general support place so I'm locking the ticket.
