Hello. Hm, that's strange.
You shouldn't need a net8.0
TFM build for Bogus to work on .NET 8 projects.
Bogus as currently distributed with net6.0
, net40
, netstandard1.3
and netstandard2.0
TFMs and should work on .NET 8 projects without any problems.
I'm not sure what kind of build toolchain you're using that would contain a lib/*
path; afaik, MSBuild dotnet restore
and dotnet build
produce bin
and obj
folders at the .csproj
level.
I would probably suggest deleting your bin
, obj
, and lib
folders; then start fresh dotnet restore
and dotnet build
again and see if the problem continues.
Feel free to continue posting follow ups on this thread if you need more help.

@h3ko I suspect you're missing Microsoft.NET.Test.Sdk from your test csproj.
I was in exactly the same position.

FWIW, here's my output on a fresh .NET 8 test project:
<Project Sdk="Microsoft.NET.Sdk">
<PropertyGroup>
<TargetFramework>net8.0</TargetFramework>
<ImplicitUsings>enable</ImplicitUsings>
<Nullable>enable</Nullable>
<IsPackable>false</IsPackable>
<IsTestProject>true</IsTestProject>
</PropertyGroup>
<ItemGroup>
<PackageReference Include="Bogus" Version="35.0.1" />
<PackageReference Include="Microsoft.NET.Test.Sdk" Version="17.6.0" />
<PackageReference Include="xunit" Version="2.4.2" />
<PackageReference Include="xunit.runner.visualstudio" Version="2.4.5">

<PrivateAssets>all</PrivateAssets>
</PackageReference>
