The problem is somewhere in the renderer-tiles/osd code, but at the moment I do not see it.

The line main_window.h = in geeqierc.xml causes the problem when that value is too small. Set it to a larger value.

Is it a second Layout Window? Click on it to select it, and then press Control-W.

If I select any image, press V (fullscreen window opens), then V again (fullscreen window closes), this strange windows closes. But when I restart Geeqie, this strange window shows again.

Could you please upload $HOME/.config/geeqie/geeqierc.xml.

If you wish, delete file and directory names, but it would be useful for me to see what sections are in this file.

Here it is.
I added .txt extension to the file in order to upload.
geeqierc.xml.txt

On the animate = true line, delete the > angle bracket and restart Geeqie.

When this file is saved again, the angle bracket reappears, but the fault does not.

There is a problem somewhere in the file saving code.

I will look at that in a couple of days.

Geeqie instance on my another PC doesn't have this strange window on startup but its geeqierc.xml has line animate = true >

This angle bracket is needed to close opened <layout> xml tag.

I now have another opinion. It may be the image Overlay Screen Display which is being displayed in the wrong place - if so, this is because you have changed the window layout (Edit/Configure This Window) to a non-default setting.

Reverting to the standard layout is a workaround in the meantime.

This bug is related to Image Overlay
If you press I multiple times to turn off image overlay (1. no image overlay, 2. image overlay, 3 image overlay + histogram, 4. no image overlay) then this window disappears after geeqie restart. But when you turn on image overlay this window appears again.

This is strange because I have image ovelay turned on always on other PC and I don't see this bug there.

When I start geeqie I have 3 windows opened at the same time (look at panel)

About couple of seconds after a start one window closes itself, two windows remain -- geeqie and narrow window.

When I minimize geeqie...

Are you using a v2.1 AppImage?
If so, please try the latest Continuous Build version.

No. Version 2.1 from official Manjaro repo.

What does it mean? Height of the main window?
Right now I am using 2K monitor (2560x1440). Height is 1440 px.

from geeqie.

caclark avatar caclark commented on June 6, 2024

It is the height of the Geeqie main window.

Stalinist1 avatar Stalinist1 commented on June 6, 2024

OK. I figured it out.
I get used to use Geeqie window maximized, but when I restore the window its initial size is very small (720x540).

From geeqierc.xml

        main_window.x = "0"
        main_window.y = "0"
        main_window.w = "720"
        main_window.h = "540"

I increased window size by dragging a mouse, then maximized it, and then closed. After restart Geeqie is fine -- no strange windows open along with main window.

Thanks for workaround!

You guys need to fix this bug!
