Unfortunately, we do not have any OS X-capable machines for developing our
add-on.

So the only choice for us would be to remove OS X-compatibility to avoid
installing on that platform.

_BUT_, if it is any consolation, Ctrl-Q stopped working in Windows somewhere
between FF 36.0 and 40.0 (even on an empty profile), so our only options are to
close the windows one by one with Alt-F4 or use the power-off icon from the
hamburger-menu :-(

Well, I have an older Mac Book (not Pro) from about 2009. Its got 4GB RAM and a
2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo.

I can hang it off the internet and give you access to it. I don't think SSH
will be enough; I think you'll need Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) too. ARD is
basically a VNC client.

Can we tunnel VNC traffic over SSH? I don't want to expose ARD/VNC to the
internet because of the 8-character password limitation.

To answer my own question: probably, but I don't know how to do it.

Let's see if the folks on the Apple Stack Exchange can help out. "Setup MacBook
to accept ARD traffic over SSH?", http://apple.stackexchange.com/q/180340.

A VNC connection from Windows is probably not the best solution to simulate OS
X key strokes.

I might try to set up a VirtualBox virtual machine...

OK, I installed OS X 10.9 in a VM.

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the problem.
I.e., in a fresh FF profile, with only gPrivacy installed, Cmd-Q works just
fine.

Could you try it in an otherwise empty profile, too?
