Yes, this behaviour will be improved when the receive part of Blueooth offline transaction goes from "Labs" to final. For now, just opt out of it by disabling the feature in the settings.

I guess while I'm on a similar topic: Has anybody attempted to transfer signed transactions over NFC? I know it's overall pretty slow but signed transactions should only be a couple of KB in size.

This would really make in-store transactions flow better because a reader in a store can prepare to send a bitcoin URI (send x btc to address y), the client places their phone onto a reader (with just the lockscreen showing), bitcoin app automatically opens and prompts them to confirm the amount and destination, they tap Ok, app signs a transaction and sends it back over NFC. Saves having to find wifi/4g.

I plan to work on another application that would handle the merchant side of this idea, if it's feasable.
