use of ping selector is causing app submission warning about hockeysdk-ios

Which version of our SDK do you use and how did you integrate it? The method ping is coming from JIRA Mobile Connect and not used for anything else. It should be disabled in our binary releases.

Please define "disabled". As long as it appears in the binary, I think Apple is seeing it. But they don't say exactly where they are seeing it, so I'm assuming a bit here.

It's disabled by an #if / endif block and not compiled unless you include our SDK as a subproject and set the #define. See https://github.com/bitstadium/HockeySDK-iOS/blob/2.5.4/Classes/BITHockeyManager.m#L259-L371

Version 2.5.2 is actually very old. Your problem was fixed in 2.5.4, then we had 2.5.5, current stable version is 3.0.0 and the latest betas of our SDK are 3.5.0.
