If I connect to the VNC server of a freshly installed Raspberry Pi 4, all would work perfectly; it would ask for credentials (but not offer to save them): Do I add it to the bookmarks and try to reconnect, it would always fail. Bookmarks are also _not_ editable: > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM About to connect to 'scan.at.home.arpa', port 5900 > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM VNC server supports protocol version 3.8 (viewer 3.8) > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM We have 3 security types to read > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM 0) Received security type 19 > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM Selecting security type 19 (0/3 in the list) > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM 1) Received security type 129 > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM 2) Received security type 5 > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM Selected Security Scheme 19 > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM Got VeNCrypt version 0.2 from server. > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM We have 1 security types to read > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM 0) Received security type 262 > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM Selecting security type 262 > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM Using default paths for certificate verification. > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM Server cert trusted > 16/08/2026 02:59:34 PM TLS session initialized. > 16/08/2026 02:59:36 PM VNC connection failed: Invalid username or password > **Which MultiVNC version are you using?** 0.11.0

Hi @etkaar, thanks for reporting! I guess this is on Linux, is this the Flatpak or a distribution-packaged one or self-built?

etkaar

That is Aurora Linux and installed over Bazaar, so it's a Flatpak :)

bk138

v0.11 flatpak works for me connnecting to wayvnc, also via bookmark - do you have a https://wiki.nixos.org/wiki/Secret_Service implementation installed?

etkaar

No, just a quite fresh Aurora I didn't interfere with much. A connection attempt isn't even made on the server I can see in the logs of the Raspberry.

bk138

Yeah you need either GNOME Keyring, KDE Wallet etc for bookmarks to save creds.

etkaar

Oh okay, Aurora is KDE. Then I need to do some research, because I never used that.

etkaar

Can you please tell me how to use KDE Wallet with MultiVNC? MultiVNC would never ask or offer me to save or fetch a password.
