hen's Issues

Infinite loop when using ruby's tracer with a hen project

Enabling ruby's tracer in something that uses hen will cause what appears to be an infinite loop when to_s is called on the git pseudo object. Something similar should happen if subversion is being used instead of git.

Example of the repeated output:

#0:git: 'to-s' is not a git command. See 'git --help'.

The most similar command is
notes

Must use "kill -9" to kill the process.

Line 100 of lib/hen/dsl.rb is where the problem arises.

The problem can be solved by keeping Object's to_s method in the pseudo_object method (i.e. add "\Ato_s\z" to the pattern of methods to keep) or by defining a to_s method when creating a pseudo_object. Not sure which fix is preferred.

What I did to cause the problem:

  • In a project using git, added the following code to the beginning of a Rakefile:
    require 'tracer'
    Tracer.on
  • ran 'rake test'
