By "the log in the project" I presume you are referring to the use of Sitecore logging calls in Synthesis? I don't think its volume of log entries demands a separate log for it if that's the case.

Sorry for the lack of clarity. I meant that when Synthesis generates its own log files, it puts them in the project folder, alongside the generated files. I feel like for Sitecore consistency they should go into /Data/Logs with the rest of 'em. The main reason for requesting this change is to ensure that incorrect setup (i.e. permissions to the project folders) get a successful log file from which to troubleshoot.

By log files are you then referring to the .cs.1 files? Those aren't really log files, they're backups you can restore in case you can't build the solution after regenerating.
