i think you could switch to channel A, use set_scale, use tare, read the values etc. then switch to channel B and start over. probably not exactly what you need, but in all honesty the library was not originally created with using both channels in mind, my use case was much simpler.

i'm currently working on pulling some changes from @zfields (i pulled some other changes from someone else and apparently there are some conflicts i need to fix first); but i'm busy as always at my regular job so the progress is slow. what i'm trying to say is that the features you need could be added at some point, together with the other suggested changes for two channel usage.

that's exactly what I tried but it seems there is only one tare value implemented. After tare() for both, it uses the tare value of channel B for both channels.

I totally understand you can't fix this at the moment. I was just wondering if I was just too stupid to use the library properly. So this main question was answered quickly. Thanks for that!

I am using a workaround now manually storing the tare value for channel B. It is ok and working for now. Feel free to use the idea and usecase for further improvements.

what i meant was you could (not sure) call tare() again; but depending on your use case that may not be helpful.
