Sorry, I could not reproduce your issue.
I added the package using yarn. (yarn add) and could be used as expected.
I tried fetching the package via:
npm pack gatsby-remark-embed-video
tar tvf gatsby-remark-embed-video-1.4.0.tgz
It could be unpacked without issue.
Has your issue been resolved?

@borgfriend no, this still happens. Are you maybe using an operating system that doesn't check permissions (like Windows or some configurations of OS X?)

I tested this on elementaryOS (based on Ubuntu) - and did not encounter this issue.
Windows of course does not care about that. I currently do not have an OSX to test.
I suppose running chmod +rwx would solve the issue?

Somehow this stopped happening on my local computer, but keeps happening on netlify. I will investigate more.
