I think the environment.yml
that's automatically generated is too specific about versions. Could you try removing the version info from that line, i.e. just - netcdf4
and try again?

I'll make a more minimal environment.yml
- disadvantage being that we have to keep checking whether all the versions still work nice together. Might be worth setting up continuous integration (e.g. travis) at some point.

I think the best practice is to start with the environment.yml
that conda produces, and then prune it heavily. I tried that with an environment I use for mkgu data packaging, and it finally worked well after I'd trimmed off almost all the version information, and cut out more than half of the dependencies.
