The only reason gulp and grunt are even in the .json manifests is to be able to automate the minification of the js file. It's a far cry from 'dangerous' unless you expect your dev box to be subject to a DoS attack.
Happy for you to submit a PR to fix the exceedingly tight versioning rule in the .json's though. :)

I think Rollup might be a better tool for a library these days. It would solve #32 too, which is a big deal for some people. Mind if I submit a PR with these changes?
