Yup - I see what you mean.. I agree that 7 is better shown a row of 4 and a row
of 3.

I will look at the tiling code, and see if it can guess better. Or add a Ctrl-A
command to toggle through possible
layouts.

Do people like tall-thin, or short-fat windows?

thanks for the quick responde!

i personally prefer short-fat windows, as sometime commands, or responses tend
to be
long, so they can fit in 1 line.

ctrl-a rearrange would be possible the best solution, if it would allow an
option to
set the grid: like 2*3, or 4*2. So if somebody prefers narrow windows could set
7*1,
if somebody like wide winows would set 1*7, and 3*3 would be the golden middle

Have a look at the latest SVN version:

http://csshx.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/csshX

This has better auto-tile. It also will accept a "-x" or "-y" argument to set
your preferred number of columns.

Finally, ctrl-a g or G will change the number of columns while running.

cool! It's really handy. You might add description to the manual wiki page about
ctr-a g and ctrl-a G

Releases in 0.62. Wiki was updated to match.

Thanks for the feedback!
