It's getting stranger.  I have a copy of the source in Eclipse, and if I link 
my WO
project to the scooby source project, I can get my events with the REPORT 
request.

I'm not sure what you mean by the scooby source project...but in any case one 
thing
that I did find is that if you make a request against a collection and don't 
end the
URL with a "/" you get a 301, redirect instead of the expected REPORT body. So 
stick
that slash after your collection name!

scooby was the name of the project when it was hosted at Chandler ? :-)

I finally found my problem, I forgot to add the xml-apis.jar to my project.
