License unclear about tooltipster

I was under the impression that GPL was more about protecting the creator from being sued and allowing freedom for anyone and everyone to modify / distribute it.

Anyways, to clarify my intent, you can use it in whatever way you'd like - commercial or noncommercial. As long as you aren't selling the plugin and claiming it as your own, it's all good. Feel free to use it in commercial sites and themes. If you're using it in something like a theme, a reference to the creator (me) somewhere would be nice - but it's not required :)

Hopefully that clears it up. Sorry for the confusion.

Would you be willing to change the .json file to be MIT or Apache license since it seems like you don't really require it be GPL-3. At the very least having it say GPL-2 would be nice.

GPL2 would be about the same, at least please make it LGPL )
