You can sort the playlist by clicking on the column headers - did you mean something
different?

Oh, sorry. Of course, you're right :) But removing dupplicates would be nice still :)

one thing that amarok 1.4 had that has yet to make it to clementine is when sorted by artist etc amarok ignored "the" if it was at the beginning of the artist name allowing for better sorting it would be nice to see this added to clementine as an option in some future release :-)

there should be more sorting options , and not by just clicking the headers.
Like sort by file path or sort by artist / album date. These are essential for when having a large music library.
Or sort selected tracks by different criteria by right clicking (path, tracknumber, alphabetically, etc.)

Come on - what is this: some undefined sorting enhancements thread or a bug about duplicate in the playlist? Please, decide David. ;)

This was a working plugin but there's no more scripting support... One could reuse the logic from plugin to implement it in the main code. If we even want it there. Some of the logic is still in the main code (veto for song-to-playlist insertions mechanism).

I made a clone and added a removeDuplicateSongs() function (and an accordant menu-entry).
I hope it is useful!

So this appears to work for actual duplicates; however, in the use case I mentioned in Issue 3048 (tracks that Spotify has in duplicate or triplicate), it does not. My assumption is this is due to Spotify assigning the tracks separate IDs of some sort, and this is a strict check.
Of course, I don't know if a looser duplication check would be beneficial in the general case. I tend to think that if the title, artist, album, length, etc. are all the same, any user would consider them to be the same, but I've been proven wrong many times before when attempting to make statements for all Clementine users.

The current "remove duplicate" that have been implemented considers two songs as being "duplicated" if they have the same URL, so exactly the same.
Indeed, it might be interesting to also remove "similar" songs, based on metadata...

I have many duplicate mp3s on my harddrive. A function to delete/merge/ignore similar Files would be fine!
