textbox's Introduction

The CLiGS textbox

DOI

This repository contains several text collections made available by the CLiGS junior research group (see http://cligs.hypotheses.org). As of May 2018, these are:

The text collections are available by cloning the repository, downloading the entire repository as a ZIP file or downloading individual text collections as ZIP files.

All texts are in the public domain. The markup and metadata we have added are provided with a CC-BY (Creative Commons Attribution, see http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) license.

Each collection includes a description of the criteria of text selection, the available data formats, a citation suggestion, etc. More information about formal schemas (for example the TEI schema linked to from all the TEI files) can be found in the reference repository of CLiGS available at https://github.com/cligs/reference.

There is a collection of Python utility scripts which can be used for several tasks related to the textbox, for example to extract metadata automatically from the TEI files. This set of scripts is called the CLiGS toolbox and is available at https://github.com/cligs/toolbox. The toolbox reflects ongoing work and is not organized in official releases.

textbox's Issues

Check "quote"

In roman19, check instances of "quote" for compliance with function of this element. Conversely, check whether it should be used in other places.

italic(s)

Make sure we use "italic" (without a final "s") everywhere. This is how it is used in the Guidelines and in CSS. Consider adding this as a constraint to the schema (for Element seg)

Fix most frequent spelling errors

See the file "spellcheck_report.csv" for the most frequent issues with spelling. The most frequent ones should be fixed semi-automatically.

Simplify downloading of individual collections

Someone interested in just one of the collections still has to download (as ZIP) or clone the entire repository. The repository has more than 500 MB at this point. Is there a way to make it possible for people to download just one given collection?

If we need to split the collections into separate repositories, this would become possible. An advantage would be that each collection would get its own DOI. On the downside, there would be no overarching place anymore, and no joint semantic versioning of releases and DOI would be possible.

Error in part Attribute in French collection of theatre17

In the file Scarron_Fausse-apparence_tc0544.xml, in l element with n="347", the attribute part contains the value "=F". The character for "=" should be deleted. The error was found through validating the corpus with an schema.
