is it anyway you can switch to use ESPv2? I believe ESPv2 should have better support on this. I need to check ESPv1 code to see how x-google-backend is handled and why domain name doesn't work.

Upgraded to ESPv2, that seems to fix it! Now working with address: "http://my-service-name:80"
