why do we need this endpoint?

the reason i ask is because i had no problem implementing the UI's round contributors page without this.

Yeah, technically we DON'T need it if you get all the round's allocations, members, & contributions from the API. But Derek was struggling and we decided that this would make it easier for him. Plus, it's just one API call which is nice, and it includes the contributions and everything else you need for it.
But yeah, once we switch to Rob's new record_store where everything is downloaded up front and indexed we probably won't need this.
