After several trial-and-error, I finally managed to deploy a compiled version onto conda, which I tested is working on linux-64

The code changes required is on commit befb624 .
I have not figured out a way to successfully compile that on Mac OSX though. I will communicate with the MDTF team to see if that suffices.
