How about ditching the private copy constructor and simply exposing the original Delaunator class with an augmented prototype (adding methods like voronoi
)?
from d3-delaunay.
That’s what I did originally, but I enjoy the encapsulation provided by a separate class. The Delaunator instance exposes some public fields that aren’t necessary for my use cases (delaunator.ids, delaunator.trianglesLen). And a separate representation for the constructed triangulation allows freeing of temporary state used during construction (mainly delaunator._hash, but also delaunator._cx, delaunator._cy). And it encapsulates the private methods.

I’ve implemented the first strategy in #25. I’ve also augmented Delaunay.from to more closely match the behavior of Array.from.

Here’s a fun example:
Delaunay.from({length: 100}, () => Math.random() * width, () => Math.random() * height)
