I thought the question is clear.
However in the case it isn't: How can I change the number of posts shown on the first page? Currently there are too few displayed.

if you read the gohugo "getting started" information you can find the following:
--> https://gohugo.io/getting-started/configuration/#paginate

This is the variable you need to set in your config.toml to your needs.
