🤔 Interesting. I never tested this on Opera 😅
I do have access to a Mac, so I just downloaded Opera to test and it seemed to work fine on my end. Did you install it from the Chrome web store?
To see if we can figure anything out, could you check if the console is outputting any errors? There are two places to look...
The main one is the extension's background page. To access this you'll have to enable developer mode in your extension settings, click on the background page
link next to "inspect views" for MarkDownload, and go to the Console tab.
There may or may not also be hints in the developer console of the page you're trying to clip itself. Open the developer tools for the page you're clipping, clear the console then try clipping and downloading it and see if any errors pop in there.

Sure, I install it via Chrome webstore. Previous version work perfectly.
The new "download images and make folders" screw something.... but as I said I disable even this in the extension settings, but there is no differnce.
This is from developer output:
DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for https://static01.nyt.com/newsgraphics/2020/09/24/styln-elections-signup-module/da3cc69a3fe7b649c7708c901a2207edc58b8cd2/build.js.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE
2DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for chrome-extension://pcmpcfapbekmbjjkdalcgopdkipoggdi/browser-polyfill.min.js.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME
from markdownload.
The SourceMap warnings can be safely ignored, they don't really tell me anything.
If nothing is downloading... 🤔 The popup isn't closing when you hit download, either, is it?
If it's not closing, that indicates that there is an error somewhere, but if it's not popping up in the console for the background page, then I'm really not sure what could be happening.

Nothing is happening. No pop-up, no dialog to ask to save as....

I've been having a similar issue in Firefox, but not all the time. When I activate Markdownload everything seems to behave normally. The popup opens (with content) and closes when I click download, but there is no actual file downloaded. The same thing happens whether I use the extension icon or the contextual menu.
It's only happening on some webpages. So far the only thing I've found in common between them is there is always an error related to something not loading. It's been a mix of things like 404 image files, failed 3rd party scripts, the sourcemap issue mentioned above, and several with Content Security Policy errors.

@montemartin Got a couple of concrete example URLs I can play with?
from markdownload.
For me non of the website getting downloaded....
The markdown in window is correct, just nothing is downloaded....
Can you please check the code between one version down? This works for me for all websites.

I have another news. If I select the text in the Extension mini-window, the new button will appear: DOWNLOAD SELECTED TEXT. When I press this the markdown file is downloaded! So there must be an error somewhere when pressing standard DOWNLOAD button!
Even the images are downloaded!

@dxcore35 thanks for the update. Every little bit helps narrow it down. It's hard for me to test though without being able to reproduce.
If over the next week or so I make a couple of test builds, are you comfortable loading unpacked extensions from zip files I send to you? I can try and make some builds that cut out some of the changes between the previous version and this one to try and narrow down exactly what caused it to stop working.
First, make sure you can download and install markdownload_-_markdown_web_clipper-2.3.1.zip
from this release. From what you've said so far, this version should be working fine, but it's always good to double-check and set a baseline for future tests.
If that works fine, try downloading and running this build next:
markdownload_-_markdown_web_clipper-2.3.test01.zip
In my opinion, it's the most likely candidate for stuff having broken. Either way, I can make more builds after this to try and narrow down the issues further.

Testing of Version 2.3.1
The article downloading work perfectly.
But I see error in dev section of extensions:
"browser_specific_settings": {
"gecko": {
"id": "{1c5e4c6f-5530-49a3-b216-31ce7d744db0}"
}
}
}
Testing of Version 2.3.test01
Cannot even install the extension.

Brother! I cannot believe. After testing and removing the extension for installation of v2.3.1
and v2.3.test01
. I installed back the v2.4
from google play store. Just without any hope clicking on the download button, the download is working now! I enable the downloading of the images, testing the download again.....IT WORKS!!! I don't understand what may have happend.
I consider this issue as resolved by divine providence :D But is up to you if you decide to close it or keep open, till new version.
from markdownload.
That's really weird 🤔
Also, that version number issue is something I'll have to keep in mind for future test builds (if necessary)
Glad you got it working though 👍

I'll leave this open for now in case I can figure anything out with @montemartin
