Yeah, noticed that too.
Install the xorg-devel packages, so SDL can actually use all the new fancy features.
Without those its not only the warning, its unable to grab the mouse then.

Oh, and after installing all the libs and headers reconfigure and rebuild SDL2

I should have the X11 headers. I saw something about some issue with the newer X11 headers and SDL2 though. I will look into it.

Pay attention to what SDL2's configure outputs for x*
On debian/ubuntu there's the xorg-dev (http://packages.debian.org/sid/xorg-dev) meta package, which just depends on a bunch of other x11 related packages. That gave SDL2 everything it could use.

I am on arch, X11 itself should come with the headers (arch has no concept of dev packages).

I have been having unrelated SDL2 problems (display not fullscreening properly at all, basically crashing the driver)
