Setting key values inside a callback about activerecord-postgres-hstore

I managed to sort this out by playing around in the console a bit with the handy to_hstore method.

@model.update_column :data, {'1' => 'one'}.to_hstore
@model.data
=> {'1' => 'one'}

HOORAY! SUCCESS!!! But waitaminute there..

@model.data
=> {'1' => 'one'} # OK still there
@model.update_column :data, {'2' => 'two'}.to_hstore
@model.data
=> {'2' => 'two'}

Oh noes! What happened to my previous value? It got nuked! Can we maybe merge this badboy in?

@model.data
=> {'1' => 'one'}
@model.update_column :data, @model.data.merge('2' => 'two').to_hstore
@model.data
=> {'1' => 'one', '2' => 'two'}
