It does look like when you embed a tweet that contains video with Twitter's JavaScript library you are able to play the video directly.
Here's some HTML if you want to test it

This is a design question, but when we allow the user to browse videos they are browsing videos not tweets right? So we may want to use the appropriate embed from YouTube, Vimeo, etc.
