if you want to use a service as platform, you need to use the platform_service option and putting the id in it, not the platform option. And the @ syntax has no special meaning in this place of the config as the Doctrine DI extension does not try to do special stuff in this case.

OK sorry but there is some typos in the documentation then :

http://www.doctrine-project.org/docs/dbal/2.0/en/reference/configuration.html
"Each built-in driver uses a default implementation of Doctrine\DBAL\Platforms\AbstractPlatform. If you wish to use a customized or custom implementation, you can pass a precreated instance in the platform option."
This doc talks about platform and not platform_service !

http://symfony.com/doc/current/reference/configuration/doctrine.html
doctrine:
dbal:
default_connection: default
connections:
default:
options:
foo: bar
so that options seems the right place in this one ! And values set there go into driverOptions ... which is not described anywhere ...

Thanks for the explanations.

Hi, I'm trying to do this on Symfony 3.2 and I am having the same issue.. the platform isn't taken into account:

services:
    wc_platform:
        class: AppBundle\Doctrine\CustomPlatform

doctrine:
    dbal:
        options:
            platform_service: wc_platform

Is this still the correct way?

Thanks.
