Sounds like a bug in watchify. Jadeify does not do any file watching.

This is a problem with browserify in general. It does not allow any way for transforms like jadeify to register the additional dependencies, so if you do dynamic caching (as watchify and browserify-middleware do) then you miss the changes to those dependencies. The issue is that the jade compiler doesn't generate code with requires in it, instead it inlines the result of compiling those files.

@ForbesLindesay this is the only thing that I dislike about jade that it inlines dependencies. This is especially bad for front-end templates, because of code duplication in compiled templates.

A good example of this is nunjucks template. I contributed to nunjucksify project where template inclusion is found in compiled code with regexp and corresponding require calls are prepended to the transformed file, so it uses browserify for dependency management.
