what VS should I use?, and what platform toolset?

Either use wchar as asked or adjust the Functions to accept ascii chars

Simple solution is to add "L" next to each of the wrong strings.
for the modulefilename , just change the function to GetModuleFileNameA();

Last solution is to change your solution properties Character Set to "Multi-Byte"
