Crash on Scanning SSL Plugins about owlplug

Thank you for reporting this issue.

Can you try to increase OwlPlug log level following this doc. We should be able to see the last analyzed plugins before the crash. If it's really a plugin from SSL I can try to reproduce using the trial version.

Temporarily, you can disable native discovery in Options to avoid crashes.

Helo, thank you for the fast response. This is the last line in the log:

These plugins (and Softube plugins) are an ongoing headache for me as they tend to crash Ableton Live 10 whilst scanning, too.

Wow... It's easier to find a crack than install their trial version. 😬

I can't test on a Mac, but I've reproduced random crashes on a Windows 10 VM with Drumstrip Stereo x64.vst3 on version 5.1.1. There is no output on stdout or logs that helps to find the root cause.

Owlplug works like a DAW during native plugin analysis, so a plugin crash often breaks Owlplug too. If the problem appears in Ableton, it's probably an issue with the plugin and it should be reported to SSL. I've checked on Google, some peoples are facing similar crashes with this plugin.

Anyway, OwlPlug should be more resilient against those crashes. I've opened issue #27 and #28 to make things less frustrating in the future.

SSL and Softube just ignore any contact on these scan crashing issues, thay are a nightmare to deal with, but I will persist.

I'll close the issue. The crash seems related to a stability problem located on the plugin.
Since OwlPlug 0.13.0, native discovery can be disabled for a specific plugin. (see #28)

Don't hesitate to reopen if you have new elements from developers.
