It's hard to imagine an interesting product that would not choose to reuse features from platform, e.g., org.eclipse.rcp. One would need to duplicate so much of what's already in reusable features and then if those feature changed, you'd need to make corresponding changes in the product's much larger list of bundles. You can already see this is the case with the p2 examples and their broken dependencies.

This appears to make some reference to the example in the above project:

The P2 examples could be modernized (e.g. use Features instead of plug-ins, which should make them far simpler)

I would personally argue that features mostly make things more complex overall and could be replaced by bundles in most cases and that getting rid of features would allow to get rid of tons of weak code and tools :P

Back to the discussion about examples, the question is whether those examples are useful to anyone now or will be in the future. What are the stories covered by those examples that seem worth being kept (ie neither code in p2 or related projects like Tycho can help)?
