After fetching the data successfully, call this:

$('#calendar').evoCalendar('addCalendarEvent', [
     {
          id: 'kNybja6',
          name: 'Mom\'s Birthday',
          date: 'May 27, 1965',
          type: 'birthday',
          everyYear: true // optional
     },
     {...}
]);

You can add as many as you can.

Is it possible to retrieve Event data from a CSV file or equivalent as I have a lot of Events I'd like to add. I'd also be adding events quite regularly.

At the moment, I'm just doing this;
