@fabeuw. The code expects all variables, so you will need to change the code to download and process only the variables you want. A starting point may be mod_ncep.f90, maybe you can remove the variables you don't want then find where the deleted variables are used and change the code accordingly.

@mpaiao Thank you. And just for clarification, can SH be processed alone or is it related to wind and hgt?

@fabeuw. The code reads in pressure, temperature, and relative humidity then converts to specific humidity. You don't need winds to compute specific humidity, though I guess you are asking this because we used NCEP winds for South America. To be honest, I don't remember why we used NCEP winds, but there was probably some problem with Sheffield's wind field. Since you are going to download NCEP data, it's probably a good idea to download winds too.

@mpaiao I will also get wind then good idea, but specific humidity is already provided by NCEP, why recalculate it?

EDIT: I meant SPECIFIC humidity

@fabeuw I used their relative humidity and recalculated specific humidity. I think I was just trying to make sure the met driver would'n be supersaturated very often. If they have specific humidity at the 1st atmospheric level, then you could download it instead.
