Seems to be the new industry standard, yeh.

I created an Electron Forge plugin for SSL.com generated certs that integrates their eSigner tool. Linking it here in case someone stumbles on this and used SSL.com to generate the new certificate: https://github.com/Burzo/electron-forge-ssl-code-sign-plugin. Hopefully it helps.

Same for Digicert.

Apparently it's a new requirement

Using a private key or pfx is no longer an option because of the new private key storage requirements. Please refer to the following link for more information.
