Um How do I apply that bug fix to my machine?

Which version of repmgr are you using?

This fix has been released long time ago. Any decently new version should have that fix.

I don't have it at all. But I am getting the error

PG::ConnectionBad: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?

and in my server log

FATAL: could not open directory "pg_logical/snapshots": No such file or directory

Someone told me this update was the solution to why I loose my postgresql file when I shut my computer down. I resolved it, had my server running fine. Turned on my comp the next day and I was getting the same error. I don't remember what I did the first time. I'm hopping repmgr could solve it. It has something to do with upgrading OX 10.10

I can't figure out how to install this thing in the first place. I clone it into the home directory.

Johns-MacBook-Pro:~ bam$ sudo make USE_PGXS=1 install
Password:
make: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop.

That has nothing to do with repmgr, and repmgr will not fix your problem.

I suggest you ask in the postgresql-general list, but IMO you have some serious data corruption.

If you're using the PostgreSQL version which came with OS X - don't. See this blogpost: http://blog.2ndquadrant.com/ware-yosemite-possible-postgresql-upgrade-issues-os-x-10-10/
But as Martín says, this is nothing to do with repmgr.

OS X seems to like to delete empty directories whenever it feels like it.
PostgreSQL doesn't like that.

See:

http://www.postgresql.org/message-id/[email protected]
*
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25970132/pg-tblspc-missing-after-installation-of-os-x-yosemite

I don't think this is a PostgreSQL or repmgr issue.

If you can find a way to reproduce this, so it happens when you do a
particular set of steps, that would be really useful because I haven't been
able to nail down exactly when and why OS X goes on a deleting spree yet.

BTW, I think the reason jpbamberg1993 thinks this issue is relevant to them
is just the reference to the missing pg_logical directory.
