For me, the greatest advantage is to be able to check remotely if new devices appeared in your home. Something like “first seen” and “last seen”.

this would allow for easier addition of new devices, at least if we had the id and the time of “first seen”

Yeah, I'm liking this idea. It might be better than my other idea to "Join" when a device comes near. We could instead just have a button to add to HASS Discovery.

Some devices have special abilities like BlueCharm has buttons, and motion, so that would also make it easier to specify that when adding.

Yeah I agree, that would be cool! And now that I've got the sensors getting 48 hours of uptime I feel better and adding new stuff!
